Event Description

Jalpesh is a month long fair which is organized in the state. The fair is organized by the Department of Tourism. The month long fair helps to attract tourists to the place. The fair is organized in the February and March month on the day of Shivaratri in the Mainaguri town of Jalpaiguri district. The major attraction of the festival is the ancient Lord Shiva temple known as the Jalpesh Temple where the celebrations take place. The shivalinga in this temple is known as Anadi. People on this day walk barefoot for 15 km to the temple to offer the holy water of river Teesta to the God.
