One of the most popular pickle of the state of Andhra is the Avakaya and Maagaya. It is also prepared in the summer season. It is referred to as the gem of pickles.
Avakaya and Maagaya are prepared out of green mangoes. It is a sweet pickle. Mangoes ar granted to make this pickle and then refrigerated. The dried mangoes are mixed with chili powder, methi powder, and jaggery. If the mangoes are sour the amount of jaggery is increased and vice versa. People in Andhra prefer having it with upma, dosa, rice, or like a side salad.
